Poem from Our Feet Walk the Sky: Womyn of the South Asian Disapora

azaadiart:

It’s not that I

like wearing flowers

in my hair

nor these jewels for ear

finger hand throat ankle

I know myself

to be most beautiful naked

It’s just that like

you to linger

removing these

This Bridge Called My Back - Writings by Radical Women of Color
I don’t care what gender studies or queer theory class you’ve taken, you need to read this book, but be warned, it is a rare find and might expensive. It contains several essays by womanists discussing their experience, racism, poverty, how racism pervaded the feminist movement in the early 1980s and most importantly the individual experiences of asian pacific, black, american indian and latina/chicana women. This words you find in this book and the truths that will make your soul sick are imperrative for understanding the history of racism, feminism, systematic oppression and white privilege. These are stories that have, even today, been swept under the rug and out of sight.

Query Re THWARTED QUEEN

I’m a new (read unknown) author about to publish my first novel on Amazon later this month.

THWARTED QUEEN is a self-published historical novel about Cecylee Neville, the wife of Richard, Duke of York and mother of kings Edward IV and Richard III. Set during the Wars of the Roses in 1400s England, we follow Cecily’s emotional journey from the nine-year-old girl sold into a marriage she doesn’t want, to the mother deprived of her children by a husband she doesn’t love, to the Abbess, remorseful about the murders she advised.

I employed a professional editor for this novel. The e-book is not yet ready, but I have pdf files I can send. Are you interested in reviewing this novel?

Best, Cynthia

I would like to firstly apologize that it has taken so for me to post this and see this message. This sounds so interesting, I’m going to buy the kindle version when I can and post a review of it later. =]

Ah. Okay, so I’m going to try to keep up with this. Please feel free to submit your favorite book(s)!

Andrew Carnegie built an impressive 2,509 libraries around the turn of the 20th century. Now Rick Brooks and Todd Bol are on a mission to top his total with their two-foot by two-foot Little Free Libraries.

The diminutive, birdhouse-like libraries, which Brooks and Bol began installing in Hudson and Madison, Wisconsin, in 2009, are typically made of wood and Plexiglas and are designed to hold about 20 books for community members to borrow and enjoy. Offerings include anything from Russian novels and gardening guides to French cookbooks and Dr. Seuss.

Wise Children by Angela Carter
When you read this novel you will be strapped to a rocket and propelled into the tales of twin sisters - who are the illegitimate children of a notorious Shakespeare actor - and their unconventional theatrical family that travel across London, Brixton, Brighton, New York and many other places. Carter is by far one of my favorite authors for her vibrant prose that has the characters stepping off the page and her always perfect comic timing. A comic novel that’s actually funny.
